Download file from gmail app

I have set up my mailbox with the stock email app on my Huawei Mate 9. Last week, I downloaded an attachment file of a mail. But in the stock

I've tried deleting the Gmail updates, didn't work, I don't understand why it just stopped working, and so did downloading images from the Google app. it again > refresh and try downloading an image viz., PDF file now.
